National cricket team captain Brendan Taylor will play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after signing for Chittagong Kings.

Taylor (26) initially didnt attract any bidders during the BPL player auction in January, but the Chittagong Kings had a change of heart and reached a deal with the players agent on Tuesday.

Even after I went unsold during the player auction in January, there was always something in the pipeline. My agent, who had been negotiating with the guys in Bangladesh, called me last night (Tuesday) to inform me that a deal had been struck. Ill be leaving for Bangladesh tonight (last night) and I hope do my best for Chittagong to make sure they finish well, said Taylor.

Chittagong, who are also home to West Indies star player Dwayne Bravo are currently in third place on the three team log, with eight points, two behind joint leaders, Khulna Royal Bengals and Duronto Rajshahi. In a statement the Chittagong Kings chief executive, Sameer Chowdhury said: We have just signed for Brendan to join the Chittagong Kings for the last three games and the finals in the BPL, said Chowdhury.

Taylors agent said. The deal was negotiated directly by us with the owner and, of the Chittagong Kings. Taylor has played 54 Twenty20s, averaging 31 at a strike-rate of 122.04. He recently played in New Zealands domestic Twenty20 league, and smashed a career-best 101 for Wellington Firebirds. Taylor said he was confident that he would quickly settle to the conditions in Bangladesh having toured the subcontinent country on numerous occasions with the national team.

Obviously my knowledge of the conditions there will come in handy. We have toured there a number of times with the national team but it will be a different challenge altogether and hopefully I will quickly adjust, he said.

Chittagong Kings play their next pool match on Friday against Dhaka Gladiators at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
