MDC-T St Mary’s MP Marvellous Khumalo, who was arrested on Monday by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allegations of misappropriating $50 000 for constituency development, was yesterday freed on $300 bail.

The MP appeared before Harare magistrate Anita Tshuma and was ordered to reside at the address he supplied to the police, not to interfere with witnesses, to surrender his passport and to report once every week at ACC offices. He will be back in court on March 7.

Khumalo was charged with two counts of criminal abuse of office and four counts of theft.

He allegedly used part of the Constituency Development Fund allocation to acquire a lorry without the knowledge and approval of his constituency’s development committee and the National Management Committee.
