South Africa-based Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats) says it is concerned with recent statements by Indigenisation and Empowerment minister Saviour Kasukuwere that it had been ordered to relinquish its stake in Mimosa.

Mimosa is a joint venture between Aquarius Platinum and Implats. Implats is the majority shareholder in Zimplats.

In a statement Implats said: . . . Kasukuwere reportedly said that in order to facilitate indigenisation, the Company should dispose of its interest in Mimosa and leave Aquarius Platinum Limited as the shareholder of reference for funding and technical support.

To date, the Company has not received any official notification in this regard from the Government of Zimbabwe.
