A 31-year- old landlord from West Somerton suburb in Bulawayo allegedly sneaked into the blankets of his tenant’s eight–year-old daughter and raped her on three occasions.

This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Sikhumbuzo Nyathi during the appearance of the accused yesterday. He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to March 7 on $100 bail.

The court heard that sometime in August last year, the man’s brother asked the girl to sleep with his daughter in one of the landlord’s rooms.

When the two were asleep, the accused reportedly sneaked into their blankets and raped the complainant.

It is the State case that after five days, the man raped the girl who again informed the girl she slept with.

The court heard that after another five days, the man pounced on her yet again, but the matter came to light when the girl complained to her mother following pains in her private parts.

The mother made a police report, leading to the man’s arrest.
