KADOMA Two Harare men have been arrested and arraigned before the courts for allegedly stealing 26 goats worth $910 in the Donain farming area.

The pair, Tonderai Mangongo (29) and Wengai Nyakabau (36) both of Budiriro 5B Harare, last week pleaded not guilty to stocktheft charges when they appeared before Magistrate Takawira Mugabe.

It is the States case that on January 6, the accused persons went to Donain farming area at Battlefields, Kadoma in the afternoon and constructed a makeshift pen in the bush.

It is alleged at around 11pm the two proceeded to a place where farmers in the area pen all the goats and stole 26 goats belonging to the four complainants, Trust Machemera, Onias Mapetere, Nicholas Mashingira and James Mhike before driving them to the makeshift pen.

Thereafter, the court heard, the accused persons allegedly ferried the goats to Tynwald, Harare, on a hired omnibus before selling 23 of them.

Nyakabau, it is alleged, gave his sister three goats which she took to their rural home in Mutoko.

The pair was nabbed following a tip-off. Nothing was recovered.

The duo was remanded in custody to February 20. Yvonne Motsi prosecuted.
