Information and Communication Technology minister Nelson Chamisa has urged youths to fight for political recognition instead of waiting for power to be delivered to them on a silver platter.

Addressing a youth leadership training graduation ceremony in Harare over the weekend, Chamisa, who doubles up as MDC-T organising secretary, cited his case as a living example.

That is why this young man is a minister today because I demanded it. Real political power is retrieved by the jaws. The language is to demand and occupy the space and be awarded.

I believe for us to be relevant is that the pain of doing nothing far exceeds the pain of doing something. Its better to fail in an effort when you have made mistakes, Chamisa said.

I am representing the young people. The future is for us to create.

We are in a workshop to see that we are sharpening ourselves for our country. We cannot wait for tomorrow, we have to begin today.

Mberengwa East MP Makhosini Hlongwane said the youths should walk the talk and be able to share ideas among themselves.

Young politicians should walk the talk. There is need for cross-pollination of ideas among young politicians regardless of the political party you are in, he said.

Sibusisiwe Ndlovu, who spoke on behalf of the graduands, said the course had given them a new impetus. Forty-three graduands received certificates at the ceremony.
