Zambia striker Jonas Sakuwaha has said he is excited to have finally gotten some game time at the Africa Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Sakuwaha had until Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sudan, not seen any action at the tournament, before replacing Zambia captain Christopher Katongo in the 89th minute.

The striker from 2011 Sudan league champions El Merreikh was almost on the score sheet in injury time against his club mate and goalkeeper Elhadi Akram.

“I have no hard feelings against Sudan, it is the name of the game,” Sakuwaha said.

“I wanted to score but the most important thing is we got the win and it was good playing with my friends after a long time.”

Sakuwaha said he was hoping to get another chance to prove himself in Wednesday’s semifinal in Bata against Ghana.

“It feels good to be back on the pitch after a long time,” Sakuwaha said.

“For Zambia now we just have to look way forward.”
