KADOMA Police have confirmed the death of a 27-year-old man following a gang fight in which he sustained serious head injuries.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara said the now deceased, Alban Nyanhemwa, succumbed to the injuries at Kutama Hospital in Zvimba where was admitted.
It is reported that on January 13 around midnight in Kadoma, Nyanhemwa accompanied by his five friends met a group of six men.
For reasons yet to be established, police said, an altercation between the two gangs broke out.
The fracas continued at Number 27 Rupiya Street in Kadoma. As a result of the fight a member of the other gang, Leonard Kwari, made a report at Rimuka Police Station, leading to the arrest of the now deceased and his friends.
Nyanhemwa who had sustained a deep gash on the forehead, however, did not reveal this when the assault report was made against him and his friends, said Mabgweazara.
The now deceased is said to have proceeded to Kariga village, Zvimba, before he sought treatment at Kutama Hospital where his condition deteriorated and he eventually died on January 24.
Police are treating the case as murder and have since arrested six suspects.
