Hosts Matabeleland Tuskers will be looking to end a disappointing run of form in limited overs matches when they host rivals Mashonaland Eagles in a potentially thrilling Coca-Cola Pro50 cricket encounter at Queens Sports Club today.

The Coca-Cola Pro-50 encounter will act as a dress rehearsal for the Logan Cup encounter which starts on Monday at the same venue.

The two rivals have been experiencing contrasting fortunes in the Pro-50 competition while at the same time being neck-on- neck in the Logan Cup competition as the domestic season heads for the home stretch.

Tuskers currently set the pace in the four-day competition Logan Cup, but uncharacteristically find themselves anchoring the standings in the Pro 50 competition with just two wins from six matches.

Eagles, on the other hand, go into the match oozing with confidence as they top the log in the Pro50 competition with just one defeat from seven matches while trailing their rivals by just two points in the Logan Cup.

Tuskers posted only their second Pro50 win in six attempts with a convincing eight-wicket win over Southern Rocks two weeks ago thanks to an all-round display by their skipper Gavin Ewing who shone with both bat and ball.

The returning seamer Tawanda Mupariwa and Englishman Steven Trentchard were also on top of their game. Another win for Dave Houghtons men today would ensure that their revival continues on the right track.

In the other match, third-placed Mountaineers, who had a bye in the previous round, return to competitive action today when they host Mid-West Rhinos at Mutare Sports Club.

Mountaineers have in the past struggled in the absence of their national team stars and will be put to test by a Rhinos side which boasts the likes of Gary Balance and Rikki Wessels.
