Everyone has a God-ordained purpose and the resources to execute which are your gifts and calling liberally and irreversibly given by God, For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. (Romans 11:29).

In this composite piece on success, I want to inquire into the mystery of why some people enjoy short-lived success while others keep on succeeding. I will deal first with running in your lane and then look at management of success.

Once or twice a month, I will be switching to my secular, non-pastoral calling to give you diversity in order to stimulate and catapult you into enjoying what God ordained you for. We will, however, remain very biblical.

All along I have been operating more on the pastoral, evangelistic and prophetic graces. I will step up and draw more from the apostolic and prophetic graces allowing the full functioning of the five-fold ministry gift.

I wish to reach out to the least person on the planet to the highest office on earth; from the slave to the master, the despised to the exalted.

Life is a race that everyone has to run. Are you running or walking or worse still sitting? Hebrews 12:1-2 says: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Your confidence in pursuing your purpose is the list of the greats of faith in Hebrews 11 and your focus, strength and benchmark is Jesus. The race can be won, but note that sin retards and derails your progress.

There is a lane for everyone with the prize at the end. In your lane you have to fight unbelief, low self-esteem caused by your surroundings and to some extent, your upbringing.

The truth is that the more you wait on God, the nearer you are to the promise if you dont doubt Him, but if you harbour unbelief, you are drifting away from the promise. There are people who think that God cant choose them and look at others when something great is announced.

God can choose you, Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. (Acts 10:34-35).

You have to fight past hurts, disappointment and betrayals. I know you had dated him for five or six years only for him to marry your best friend and leave the country after you fell pregnant. You were the natural and right candidate for the post, but they settled for an outsider after you had been in acting capacity and doing well.

In fact the person they brought in does not even have a clue of the job except that they are related to someone in charge. Dont sabotage the company, God will make a way.

Ending his ministry, Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. The word course is translated race. There is a particular way or path for you where you will thrive. Your duty is to discover it.

People fear to be what God called them to be; they want to copy and repeat what has been introduced by others, buying and selling airtime, selling vegetables, pirate CDs in the central business district along the pavements and leaving no space for human traffic, operating kombis, buying and selling imported second-hand Japanese cars etc.

If you think of copycatting, then polish up and do better than the original thought. The danger of copying is that you end up competing with someone in her/his lane. In any particular lane, there is one winner and one prize and unfortunately for imitators the prize has been engraved with the name of the intended athlete of that lane.

1 Corinthians 9:24 says: Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. If you do everything you will always play second fiddle and die a servant. If you are a doctor, politician, prophet, musician etc, so be it.

Encroachment disqualifies you. Stick to your lane, you are going somewhere.
