FRANCEVILLE Gabon beat Tunisia 1-0 last night in a Group C match in the Africa Cup of Nations finals and will hope that nothing extraordinary happens as coach Gernot Rohr says the option for them in the knockout stages is to avoid the Black Stars of Ghana.

Ghana play Guinea tonight and will seal top spot with a draw while Tunisia, who finished second in Group C with six points, will play either Mali or Guinea, both on three points. Gabon, playing in front of a capacity home crowd, scored through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang his third of the tournament to put Gabon top of Group C.

Morocco salvaged some pride after ensuring they did not return home from the Nations Cup totally empty-handed. A lacklustre game was settled by a quality goal as Younes Belhanda rifled home Marouane Chamakhs pass for a late winner and Moroccos first points in Group C.

Niger huffed and puffed but never seriously threatened the Atlas Lions defence, but the Mena can be content with fulfilling their pre-tournament aim of not being ridiculed at these finals.
