Two Women of Zimbabwe Arise (Woza) leaders, Jenny Williams and Magodonga Mahlangu, will this week seek recourse at the High Court following dismissal of their application for discharge at the lower court.
Bulawayo regional magistrate Godwin Sengweni dismissed the duo’s application for discharge, arguing they had a case to answer.
Their lawyer Kossam Ncube said they were going to file the application on their next remand date, Saturday.
The two made the application arguing the State had failed to prove a case against them as evidence was inconsistent and contradictory and said allowing the State to put them on their defence would be tantamount to giving it leeway to bolster its weak case.
However, prosecutor God Katenaire argued the State had managed to prove its case against Williams and Mahlangu as vidence adduced in court was consistent and corroborative.
State allegations are the pair kidnapped Emma Mabhena (72) and stole a torch belonging to Bokani Moyo in July. Both Williams and Mahlangu have denied the charges.
