BATA – Zambia coach Herve Renard says his Chipolopolo players are undervalued and most deserve to play in Europe.

Renard was speaking in Bata ahead of todays Africa Nations Cup Group C qualifying match against Libya. “If you saw the tournament in 2010 this team played very, very well,” Renard said.

In 2010, Renard guided Zambia to its first Africa Cup last eight appearance since 1996 in South Africa when they finished third.

“They have a lot of talent they are not playing in the big clubs in Europe I think some deserve to play at the highest level than they are playing at the moment,” the Frenchman said.

Zambia currently has only two players in the Africa Cup team campaigning in Europe.

The two are striker Emmanuel Mayuka of Young Boys in Switzerland and midfielder Chisamba Lungu of Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast in Russia.

Striker Jacob Mulenga of FC Utrecht in Holland missed the tournament due to injury.

And there were five players in Saturdays starting line-up were from DR Congo club TP Mazembe: Rainford Kalaba, Francis Kasonde, Stophilla Sunzu, Hichani Himoonde and Nathan Sinkala.
