KADOMA- A 33-year-old self-styled prophet, Joel Kambawa, has been arrested for allegedly smuggling a Nissan Hardbody vehicle through the Plumtree border post.

Kambawa of Rimuka in Kadoma, who operates as a prophet in Namibia, appeared before magistrate Elisha Singano, facing charges of contravening section 182 of the Customs and Excise Act chapter 23:14.

It is the States case that on December 4 last year, the accused smuggled a Namibian-registered vehicle, registration N90314W, through Plumtree border post without the mandatory Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation (SARPCCO) clearance certificates.

It is alleged while still in Zimbabwe, the accused fraudulently registered the vehicle and it assumed registration number ABM4407.

The court heard on January 10 this year detectives working on a tip-off impounded the car valued at $3 000 and recovered registration books in accuseds possession which would be produced in court as exhibits.

Kambawa was remanded to February 3 on $200 bail. Nation Nleya prosecuted.
