The Matabeleland South Province will be holding a Paralympic games induction course for teachers at the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) offices in Gwanda on Tuesday next week.

The course is being held before the National Paralympic Games to be hosted by Matabeleland North in Hwange from April 8-12.

Matabeleland South SRC coordinator Lifa Mpofu yesterday said the province had identified schools where athletes with disabilities will be drafted into district teams that will take part in inter-district competition on February 24.

The inter-district competition will be used to select the provincial team to travel to Hwange in April.

“We are going to have an induction for special Paralympics teachers on January 31 and it will be held at the SRC’s boardroom in Gwanda.

I am not too sure how many teachers would be coming, but we have identified schools where school leavers or those athletes out of school can attend training sessions in preparation for inter-district games to be held on February 24, for selection of the provincial team,” Mpofu said.
