National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe director of coaching and talent identification Tendai Tagara has been appointed chairman of the organising committee for the Southern Region Youth Track and Field Championships.
The event will be held in Harare on May 26-27. Tagara will be working closely with the 14 secretary-generals of countries which are going to participate at the games.
The elected Tagara confirmed the development to NewsDay Sport yesterday, saying he was very happy with the appointment.
I am very happy with this appointment and I am very confident we are going to host the games in good faith. One of the major issues is that we would be expecting our fields and tracks to match international standards. We would soon set up fundraising, marketing and technical committees which will also be responsible for preparing the games, he said.
