A swimming excursion turned tragic when twin sisters, Dorcus and Raviro Charumbira, aged nine, drowned in Chinene Farm dam.
On December 26 the twins together with another nine-year-old, Bridgette Charumbira, were swimming in the dam.
It is suspected the two swam to the deeper end of the dam and drowned.
When tragedy struck, Bridgette rushed home and informed their father, Nhamo Charumbira, who rushed to the scene and managed to retrieve the bodies before making a police report.
No foul play is suspected.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson, Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed and urged parents and guardians to educate their children on the dangers of swimming without guardians.
