President Robert Mugabe’s sister Bridget is still in a coma 18 months after she collapsed at the burial of her sister, Sabina, at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

Since then, Bridget has been on a life-support machine at the country’s major referral medical institution, Parirenyatwa Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Yesterday, President Mugabe’s nephew Leo Mugabe urged Zimbabweans to pray for his aunt, Bridget.

“I really appreciate what you people (NewsDay) are doing. “You have been with us from the beginning. I would be pleased if people could set a consistent programme to pray for her,” Leo said.

Bridget, who is reportedly diabetic, suffered a stroke. She is President Mugabe’s only surviving sibling.
