Women of Zimbabwe Arise (Woza) leaders, Jenni Williams and Magodonga Mahlangu will today make an application for discharge in their ongoing case of kidnapping and theft.

The two activists argue the State has failed to prove a case against them.

The application comes after all witnesses scheduled to testify in the matter two weeks ago rebutted their statements saying that was not what they told the police.

Emma Mabhena (75) of Njube, who the State alleged the pair kidnapped, Bokani Moyo whose torch was allegedly stolen by the pair, and Tabie Ndlovu, who is a tenant at Moyo’s house, all distanced themselves from statements attributed to them in court papers.

Both Williams and Mahlangu are on $200 bail granted by Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Maphios Cheda in September after spending 12 days incarcerated at Mlolondolozi Prison in Bulawayo.
