Gospel songstress Mercy Mutsvene’s romance with Chiredzi continued when she performed alongside Steve “Dhongi” Makoni in the town recently.

The party, characterised by pomp and fanfare, was hosted by Mai Winnie Marange, aka Queen Chiredzi a local businesswoman.

At the show, Mercy wowed the fans who have become accustomed to her performing at the various events in the town.

In an interview with NewsDay Mutsvene’s husband, Tongai Nheta, said he was happy with the respect they now have in the sugar farming town.

“We are very grateful to Queen Chiredzi and the town for the love they have shown us.

“Every time we play in Chiredzi it is a blessing as we learn from all the experiences,” said Nheta who doubles as Mutsvene’s manager.

Nheta also took the opportunity to announce that Mutsvene would be releasing a DVD album at the end of the month.

The DVD is a follow-up to her latest album Tongai released last year.

“The DVD will be released at the end of this month and will be closely followed by another album that is yet to be named.

“The album is already done, but we just want to give the DVD ample time to penetrate the market before we release the new project,” he said.
