Forty-one babies were born at major referral hospitals in Harare, Chitungwiza, Mutare, Kwekwe and Gweru as the country celebrated New Year’s Day on Sunday.
Some 25 babies were born at Harare, Parirenyatwa and Chitungwiza hospitals, including four boys and a girl delivered at Belvedere Maternity Hospital.
Gweru General Hospital medical superintendent Fabian Mashingaidze said 10 babies including six boys and four girls were delivered while three girls and two boys were born at Mutare General Hospital.
There were also celebrations at Kwekwe General Hospital, where six babies were born four of them boys. Yesterday, hospital authorities were still tallying the number of babies delivered at provincial hospitals countrywide.
