An Epworth prophet, who recently appeared in a local newspaper for his spiritual powers, has been arrested after he allegedly applied vapour rub, washing powder and petroleum jelly into a female client’s private parts before inserting his two fingers.

Jacob Johane (43) and his accomplice Francis Kudzanayi (34) appeared in court facing charges of aggravated indecent assault and were remanded in custody by Harare magistrate Clever Tsikwa to January 27 for trial.

It is the State’s case that on Wednesday at around 2pm, the female client went to the prophet’s shrine where the two were offering spiritual healing. The woman was reportedly seeking “heavenly intervention” to get a job.

It is alleged the complainant, together with other clients, were loaded onto a commuter omnibus and taken to a hill in Epworth.

Johane allegedly took the complainant to a secluded place and told her to open some bottles with vapour rub, washing powder and petroleum jelly. He allegedly told the complainant to undress and briefly went away.

When he returned the complainant was told to remove her pants and the accused started rubbing her private parts with the said products.

He is said to have inserted his two fingers before asking to be intimate with the complainant as a “thank you” for the prayers, but his advances were rejected.

Kudzanayi came to the scene and he also allegedly inserted his two fingers as he prayed. The complainant made a report at Epworth police station, leading to Johane and Kudzanayi’s arrest.
