CAPE TOWN — Warriors winger Khama Billiat will be among the four players Ajax Cape Town are sending to their mother club in Holland next month for a week of training and a chance to impress the Ajax Amsterdam coach Frank de Boer.
Billiat and utility defender Thato Mokeke will be leaving together on January 14 for a week’s training with the former European champions, followed seven days later by George Maluleka and defender Nazeer Allie.
The second pair leave on January 21 after a two-week stay with Bafana Bafana, said coach Maarten Stekelenburg.
Allie had been called by Bafana Bafana for the three matches against Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and Zambia, along with Maluleka and captain Granwald Scott.
Stekelenburg told his players about the overseas trip in the change room after their narrow 4-3 win over Black Leopards at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.
“We hope they will have a great time and we hope they will learn a lot and show their talent,” said Stekelenburg.
“It is a great opportunity for these guys and it also shows the commitment of the people in Amsterdam to us here in Cape Town.”
