Newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Buffaloes will conduct trials this week in Mutare to strengthen their team ahead of their return to the top flight.

The soldiers’ strike force spent the greater part of the season on holiday and were overshadowed by their defenders on the top goal -scorer charts with their captain and right-back Dananai Chinowawa scoring eight times.

Defensive midfielder Prosper Matambanadzo had seven goals.

Buffaloes head coach Shadreck Magurasave said they were going to hold trials to beef up the squad this week, adding they already have one or two players they want to sign, but chose to play the cards to his chest by not announcing their names.

“We are going to conduct trials this Thursday and Friday at Chisamba Ground and we are expecting a big pool of players to attend,” he said.

Buffaloes will resume training for the new season on January 3. The Mutare outfit is the third new team in the Premiership after Quelaton (Southern Region) and the Harare City (Northern Region).

The fourth team — either Hardbody or Tripple B from the Central Region — likely to be confirmed today after a disciplinary hearing.
