A senior Parliament of Zimbabwe employee, Godfrey Chipare, on Thursday appeared in court facing charges of aggravated assault, rape and assault after allegedly abusing a 15-year-old girl left in his care.

Chipare (46) of 1-2 Trude Mansions Court in Harare, allegedly sexually abused the complainant on several occasions between March and December.

It was the State’s case that Chipare forced the complainant to suck his male organ after which he would ejaculate on a towel.

It is alleged the complainant was subjected to sexual abuse each time she was caught misbehaving by Chipare.

He allegedly threatened to report her to her parents since the complainant had come to stay with him after her parents left her in his custody so she could attend college.

On December 9 Chipare allegedly assaulted the complainant with fists and pulled her hair accusing her of damaging radio speakers.

Chipare was granted $300 bail and remanded out of custody to December 28 by provincial magistrate Kudakwashe Jarabini.
