A Bindura lawyer was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly insulting or undermining the authority of President Robert Mugabe.

Ernest Jena of Jena & Associates based in Bindura will appear in court on Monday, his lawyer Chris Mhike said.

“Jena was arrested when he went to the Bindura Police Station after he had received a message that he had been called by the police,” Mhike said.

“He went in the company of his lawyers and he was arrested and spent the night in the cells.

“We went to Bindura Police Station today (yesterday) and recorded a statement.”

Mhike said he did not have enough information on how the charges arose.
