“Zimbabwe please send me some sunshine,” said reigning Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Rumbidzai Mudzengerere who is currently in Xian, China for the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant where she is having difficulties adjusting to the cold weather conditions.

She told NewsDay that everything else was OK but the weather conditions were unbearable.

“It’s very cold here as it is winter now. The temperatures are varying from minus two to zero degrees so I am trying to adjust from our usual sunshine and 30 degrees in Zimbabwe,” she said.

Though this is her second time in China, the model said it felt like her first time because she is having a new experience. The first time she was with other beauty queens for the Beijing International Tourism Expo.

Mudzengerere, who shares a room with Isabella Manjon from Phillipines, will have to battle it out with 104 contestants to be crowned queen though. For now, she is the only African who is in camp.

Though the model arrived in China on Saturday, she got into camp on Tuesday evening. There have not been many activities besides a photo shoot they had in evening gowns at the Chinese Temple on Wednesday.

She added that though competition from other models was stiff, this would not bring her down as she will give the pageant a good fight. “Most of the girls here are beautiful I must say. I will do my best and I promise not to give up. Zimbabwe, please support me,” she said.

She said she was dealing with the pressure by taking each day as it comes.

“I will worry about the final when the time comes,” added the beauty queen.

The beauty said she was getting to know the models though she was having difficulties with the non-English speaking models who are having a hard time trying to relate with others who do not speak their languages.
