Award-winning Jamaican musician, disc jockey, actor and producer, Mavado — born David Constantine Brooks — is expected in the country this morning ahead of his once-off show at the Harare International Conference Centre tomorrow evening.

Organisers of the show, C&A Entertainment, who hosted the Sean Kingston, Elephant Man, and Mr Vegas concerts this year, said all was set for the show.

“I can safely say that all is in order now as we have secured the venue and are now just waiting for the artist to land in Zimbabwe,” said C&A Entertainment spokesperson Clint Robinsons.

The show has been dubbed the “Save the Last for the Best Show” as it will mark the end of the year. “Mavado will be accompanied by his 10-member band as he will perform with a live band,” said Robinson.

The international artist will be backed by local artists Winky D “Muninja”, Sniper, Guspy Warrior, Lady B, Jiggaz, Freeman and Lady Squandaa. A welcome party has been organised for Mavado at the Red Fox tonight.

Mavado’s hit -racks include So Special, Gyal A Mad Ova, Money Changer, One By One, Give You My Everything, Unda Yuh Skirt, Fly Again, Come Into My Room, Delilah, Brown Bottle, and Heart Beat.

The promoter said he had learnt from previous shows where some revellers were not impressed by the artists’ performance and would therefore assist by composing a playlist for Mavado.

“After noticing that some revellers felt cheated by Mr Vegas’ performance when he failed to perform their favourite tracks, I have decided to compose a playlist for Mavado with the core songs so as to give him the basics,” he said.

He added he had chosen to use a closed venue for the show so as to avoid rain problems. “It usually rains during this time of the year, so I decided to have an indoor show,” he said.
