All is set for the Manicaland Tennis Association Junior Tennis Open with over 50 participants expected for the three day event.

The junior players were grouped according to their age groups- U /12 to U/18 as they prepared for their first matches at Mutare Girls High School on Friday.

Zimbabwe top ranked under 18 player Innocent Mhere and Pauline Chawafambira are the major draw cards at the tournament.

One of the organizers of the tournament, Genius Chidzikwe said the response was good as junior players came from various areas of the country.

‘’l think it was good response from the young players as points are at stake. We have a total of 15 juniors who came from Harare and 10 from Bulawayo and one from Gweru. “

The most important thing is that some of them who will score good marks will stand a chance of being called up for various junior teams,” he said.
