United States-based Zimbabwean professional golfer Bruce McDonald will this weekend be among more than 300 hopefuls who will attempt to earn their right to play on the European Tour in 2012, at the Qualifying School Second Stage in Spain.

McDonald cleared the first hurdle in October after finishing in a three-way tie for second place at the Qualifying School First Stage Section D at Ribagolfein Portugal.

Fresh from helping Zimbabwe finish a respectable 11th at the 28-team Omega Mission Hills Golf World Cup in Hainan Island, China, last week, McDonald will be hoping to progress to final stage at PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain, on December 15.

McDonald was in impressive form in China where he was partnered by Brendon De Jonge, the Zimbabwean player on the prestigious USPGA Tour.

Four courses in Spain — Costa Ballena Club de Golf, EL Valle Golf Resort, Las Colinas Golf and Country Club and La Manga Club Resort — are the host venues for players looking to progress to final stage.
