Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe is expected to resume her official duties next year following breast cancer surgery in South Africa last month.
MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora told NewsDay this week Khupe was still recuperating at a private facility in South Africa.
“The DPM is recovering well at a private home in South Africa. We are positive that she will soon be resuming her duties, probably next year,” he said.
The Makokoba MP and MDC-T vice-president disclosed her ailment in June.
She immediately embarked on an ambitious joint-venture programme with the late sungura musician Tongai Moyo to set up a cancer centre to raise awareness of the disease.
Moyo succumbed to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer last month before the project kicked off.
Ever since she left the country for last month, Khupe had kept mum on her condition. But she took to her Facebook page on Monday stating she was recuperating well.
The DPM, who is a staunch Christian, also took time to thank her friends and supporters for rallying behind her during these trying times.

Her multitudes of friends responded by showering her with comforting words and encouragement.
Sources said Khupe would be back in the country on December 16 by which time she is expected to have fully recuperated.
