KADOMA — A warrant of arrest has been issued against a Kadoma man who defaulted court where he was due to appear for allegedly beating his former wife in a dispute over the paternity of a child.

Magistrate Takawira Mugabe last week issued the warrant of arrest against Hardson Mushangi (33), who is facing charges of contravening section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

It is the State case on October 30 2011 at Bandama business centre the accused, employed by Bitcon Construction, met the complainant, Nomsa Mudhe (28), his ex-wife.

The accused is alleged to have confronted the complainant and asked why she had lied to him he was the biological father of her child when, in fact, he was not.

Without allowing her the chance to respond, the accused started beating Mudhe with open hands thereby inflicting facial injuries.

The complainant also bled profusely from the nose. Officers from Chingondo Police Station, Mhondoro, quelled the fracas, leading to the accused’s arrest.
