A Zimbabwe Assemblies of God in Africa (Zaoga) youth died on the spot after a commuter omnibus she was travelling in along with five other church members overturned near Kintyre Estates just outside Harare along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, yesterday morning.

The vehicle burst its rear tyre, veered off the road and landed in a ditch.

Police national traffic spokesperson Tigere Chigome confirmed the accident, saying one girl died on the spot while 10 other passengers were rushed to hospital.

“The commuter omnibus burst its right rear tyre and veered off the road killing one person on the spot. Ten other people were rushed to hospital,” said Chigome.

A Zaoga church member, Josephine Buka, said the vehicle was carrying six girls from her church who were travelling to Norton for a meeting.

“There were six girls from our church who were coming (to Norton) for the girls’ big Sunday service who were involved in an accident.

One of them died on the spot, two were treated and discharged, two are at Parirenyatwa Hospital and one is at Harare Hospital,” said Buka.
