The growing relationship between Alick Macheso and Tryson Chimbetu could soon become one of the best combinations in sungura.

The duo has cemented the relationship through a joint song that will be on Chimbetu’s upcoming album expected early next month.

In an interview with NewsDay Chimbetu said: “I feel fantastic and honoured working with Macheso and we have worked together on my upcoming album.

“All our fans must expect an early Christmas present as this album is due to be released in two weeks. I haven’t really thought about the right title for the album but I will let you know as soon as we finalise that.

“The album will have six tracks. We are still also working on the titles for the tracks, but one of the songs to look out for is titled Mapako.

“I promise my fans something good and everything is in the pipeline. I have worked with Macheso on some of the tracks although right now I can not disclose much.”

The album will be released courtesy of Macheso’s record label, Last Power Media, which Chimbetu joined after ending his relationship with Zimbabwe Music Corporation.

This is not the first time these two artists have worked together on the same project. Chimbetu featured on a compilation album that Slizer, the popular Botswana diva, born Naledi Kasaira, recorded with Macheso.

Meanwhile, these two artists are also set to put revellers in a dancing mood when Macheso together with Tryson perform in Kwekwe on December 23 and Kadoma on December 24, shows being organised by Honds Power promotions.

The show is certainly expected to draw a lot of revellers from Gweru and the surrounding towns and wouldn’t have been as inviting without all-female dance troupe Girls La Musica who will be part of the supporting acts.

Tryson, on the other hand, has also been doing well and the young man has continued to display a high level of ingenuity over the years.

Although his act is often underrated, ironically his voice command and clarity equals that of the late dendera musician, Simon Chimbetu.
