Zimbabwe senior women football team were denied of a gold medal at the Arab invitational tournament here in Egypt as rules of the tournament were twisted to fit the hosts who were eventually crowned champions.
The Mighty Warriors finished the tournament with four points after drawing the first match 2-2 with Egypt before beating pre-tournament favourites Tunisia 1-0 in their second match.
Egypt also managed to beat Tunisia 1-0 in a match played on Friday to finish the tourney on four points, and a same number of goals as Zimbabwe.
With the two teams tied on both points and a goal difference, the tournament organizers said the toiurney will be decided on cautions given to a team.
Zimbabwe was given a red card in their first match, and tthgus missed on the gold medal. They the settled for a silver medal while Tunisia, who finished with zero points got a bronze medal.
