Royal Harare Golf Club — The major tournament of the week in the country was the 2011 Joshua Nkomo Golf Classic which was held at Royal Harare. It was sponsored by Econet.

The professionals and the top-ten amateurs on the amateurs’ order of merit played a 54-holes competition, 18 holes per day (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). On Saturday, amateurs from all parts of the country took part in an individual stableford competition.

Leading the top-ten professionals was R Cairns with a good outing. At the end of round two he set himself a comfortable lead and a good buffer on the last round encounter.

His round three score of 74 although outside the round’s best scores of 69, was good enough to see him win the tournament on -209.

2 was D Shoultz -212, 3 I Mwendapole -214, 4 I Mketekete -216, 5 D Muyambo -217, 6 T Muradzikwa -218, 7 B Gondo/G Bentley/R Saurombe -219, 10 D Elijah -220.

Results of the ten top amateurs (gross scores) were 1 B Magaso -222, 2 B Godard -231, 3 B Chibvuri/C Mhanga -232, 5 E Hungwe /C Nguru -233, 7 Ben Follet Smith -238, 8 N Masunga -239, 9 Madhodha -243, B Krog -245.

Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club — The winners of the Wednesday Club four-ball betterball Stableford competition which was sponsored by the club were 1 B Macmillan/R Devlin -49 points, 2 T Chingwena/P Masara – 47, 3 T Morland/M Vermeulen -46, 4 B Lowe/A De beer, 5 N Nicoll/B Brent -45.

On Sunday the Home Owners had their golf day. The format was four-ball Stableford alliance and the winners were 1 S Kiwe/C Jairos/J Cook/M Mutsai -99 points, 2 H Smith/J Stevenson/A Mansfield/M Pangett -97, 3 M Cuerden/I Cuerden/R Gripper/V Gripper – 94, 4 J Ridgewell / J Ridgewell /N Dean.

Chapman Golf Club — The winners of the Wednesday Club four-ball betterball Stableford competition sponsored by Edgars stores were 1 A Murumbi/O Chipangura -48 points, 2 G Kaitano/A Toronga -47, 3 L Magara/G Mberere -47.

On Saturday the Mega Medal competition which was sponsored by Gilbert Kaguru was won by 1 V Ranchod – 68 net, 2 G Gwainda -68, 3 A Toronga -68, 4 L Matoushaya -69, 5 D Tatson -70, 6 H Deoliviera -71, 7 S Esof -71, 8 N Greenhagh -72, 9 E T Muronda -72, 10 A Makonese -72. The best golf of the day had a massive gross score of 129 resulting in a net score of -107.

Ruwa Country Club — The Saturday Medal game was won by 1 S Chapotera-73 net, 2 C K Jacha -73, 3 B Zvavandanga -74. The Wednesday Club medal competition had two prizes 1 S Bgwonie -71 net, 2 C K Jacha -73.

Country Club — On Saturday the Bogey Plus competition winners were 1 S Kazhanje +4, 2 C Harris 0, 3 W Tawonezvi 0. The four-ball betterball Stableford Wednesday Club winners were 1 T K Chadyiwa / G Muzunze -51 points, 2 E T Kasanhai/E Mudhikwa -49, 3 K Ford/P Van Rensburg – 48.

Falcon Golf Club — On Saturday the club’s Medal Competition winners were 1 P Nkomo -72 net, 2 A V M Nyaungwa -72, 3 S Terera -73, 4 E Stabel -74. On Sunday the competition was an individual Stableford which was won by 1 D Chawota on 46 points. Other golfers were amazed as the score beat many normal betterball scores. For interest sake, his handicap is 22. People will be watching on him on his next game. 2 was P Chiwaka -42, 3 AVM Nyaungwa -37, 4 A E Mashamanda -37, 5 Eng J Musoko -35.

Hillside Golf Club (Mutare) — The Wednesday Club individual Stableford competition was won by 1 M Ncube -42 points, 2 M Ruchiyo -41, 3 H Samupindi -38. Wingate Park Golf Club — On Saturday the club had its final medal for the year. The winners were 1 M Tauya +3, 2 C Matambo +2. The individual Stableford Wednesday Club competition was won by 1 R. De Jonge -38, 2 G Matandani -37, 3 C Matambo -37. The best gross was from S Chiwaya on 73.
