Local film and television production company Chifamba Films will on November 25 launch their latest production titled The Kiss, at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza.

Produced by Ray Mudyiwenyama and directed by Sadat Sanhewe, the 98-minute romantic comedy will focus on the various situations that a lot of people end up in for love’s sake.

“The film tackles issues of sexual abuse against women in the work environment, the temptations that await young girls as they start their journey in career building,” said Sanhewe.

Sanhewe said the excitement begins when workmates Leon and Dereck make a bet involving a new girl, Paida, at the cosmetics factory where Dereck dares Leon to kiss Paida for a grand prize of a one week’s supply of juice at the factory’s canteen.

Leon is game and tries all tricks in the book to win the bet. Dereck chides him and his constant failure pushes him to try even unorthodox means, but to no avail. To Leon, the challenge stops being about the bet as he becomes genuinely eager to kiss the girl.

The factory manager, Jack Manyowa, a shamelss philanderer who uses his position to solicit for sex from most of the girls in the factory, is also after Pauda.

He tries to use his position and gifts to win the girl plus also threats of dismissal to dissuade Leon from getting involved with the girl.

When Leon finally manages to get the kiss, he realises that he is falling for the girl and while Paida was warming up to him, she realises that she was kissed for a juice bet and is livid with Leon despite his fruitless efforts to explain.

The plot develops when Manyowa sees that there is something wrong with the couple and he gives Leon an altimatum to leave the girl alone or lose an impending promotion he had been waiting for for two years or even be fired.

Situations worsen when Paida is asked to pay back all the favours and gifts she received from him or become his girlfriend.

He said the cast is a talented group which includes Peace Mukwara, Brenda Phiri, Steve Mutenya, James Jingo, Brighton Jazira, Gamuchirai Mutonhori, Rosebud Mubvumbi and Tawanda Chingara.
