Relegated Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Masvingo United has vowed to make a quick return into top-flight football.

They will be campaigning in the Eastern Region Division One league.

Interestingly, Masvingo United was the only side which defeated Callisto Pasuwa’s side Dynamos — the champions — in his 11 games in charge of the Glamour Boys.

The Ralph Kawondera-coached squad were the fourth team to be relegated after Kiglon Bird, Shooting Stars and Zimbabwe Saints.

They ended the season tied on 34 points with Shabanie Mine, but had an inferior goal difference.

Captain Saprine Muchabaya said it was painful to be relegated on the last day of the campaign, but said there was nothing they could do except look forward to a quick return in 2013.

“It was a painful experience. We did not expect to be relegated, but unfortunately it ended badly for us and the guys cannot believe it. We are now looking forward to a quick return into the Premier Soccer League in 2013.”

Masvingo coach Ralph Kawondera said: “I am still to sit down with the players and I am going to meet the team’s management on Wednesday (tomorrow) so that we can discuss the way forward for the team.’’
