The onslaught against The Standard newspaper continued on Thursday with detectives from the police’s Criminal Investigation Department visiting Alpha Media Holdings hunting for Editor Nevanji Madanhire.

The detectives said they wanted Nevanji in connection with a story published in the paper’s issue of October 1, headlined “Mohadi, new farmers in land battle”.

In the story, it was reported resettled farmers in Beitbridge were accusing Home Affairs co-minister Kembo Mohadi of attempting to muscle them off their land, which they claimed he intended to parcel out to his son and nephew.

After failing to locate Madanhire, they left strict instructions for him to report at Harare Central Police Station on Friday.

On Wednesday, Madanhire was granted $100 bail after being arrested alongside reporter Nqaba Matshazi over the publication of a story in The Standard earlier this month concerning the alleged imminent collapse of Reserve Bank adviser and businessman Munyaradzi Kereke’s medical aid company, GreenCard.
