Hwange . . . . . . . . . . (3)5 Masvingo . . . . . . . . (1)2 Emphatic! Hwange secured a place in the top four and possibly a slot in Africa when they hammered Masvingo in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at the Colliery on Sunday.

With the win, Hwange now have 50 points with one match to go, while Motor Action are fourth with 48 points after the former champions beat Gunners 3-2 at home.

Double scorer David Boriwondo headed home from a corner in the 24th minute to give Hwange the lead before Pevington Zimunya equalised for the visitors 10 minutes later.

But three minutes later, the hosts were back in the lead when Nkosana Siwela beat Francis Tizayi with a well-taken shot before Boriwondo completed his double in the 44th minute from another corner. It was 3-2 in the 49th minute when Zimunya converted from the spot after a handball by Thonisani Sibelo.

But Chipangano added the fourth 10 minutes from time with Gerald Ndlovu hitting the nets from the penalty spot before Siwela put the game beyond doubt with the fifth before the final whistle.

Masvingo now have to beat Monomotapa to survive after the Harare outfit drew 0-0 against Highlanders at Barbourfields on Sunday.

Masvingo have 34 points and lie in 11th place with Monoz a rung below on 33 points. Shabanie are in 13th place with 31 points and need to beat Highlanders at home and move to 34, hoping that Masvingo will beat Monoz.
