Masvingo Utd lessened their relegation troubles after beating Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Mucheke Stadium yesterday.

Masvingo got the well-deserved win in the 86th minute from a penalty by Pevington Zimunya who was pushed by the visitors’ Bekithemba Ndlovu in the box. Referee Bezel Makone did not hesitate to point to the spot despite protests from Highlanders players.

They claimed Zimunya was pushed outside the box. Zimunya took the penalty beating Ariel Sibanda. Masvingo now have 34 points from 28 games and occupy 10th position.
