Hwange moved into third place on the log standings after dispatching relegated Kiglon Bird in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery yesterday.

Nkosana Siwela opened the scoring from close range in the 32nd minute before Tongai Magwendere ensured all the three points just before the breather.

The win took Hwange’s points tally to 47, dislodging Motor Action who were beaten 2-0 by Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Desmond Knowledge gave Kiglon some hope when he pulled one back on the hour mark but Hwange managed to hold on to the end. The match started 30 minutes late after Kiglon’s bus broke down on their way to Hwange.

With the loss, Kiglon were effectively relegated from the premier league as they have 24 points, and cannot catch up with Shabanie Mine who occupy the relegation cut-off point. Kiglon join Zimbabwe Saints in Division One football next season.
