A stunning line-up of hot, contemporary African talent is set to ignite the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards which will be held on Friday evening in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Awards organisers said the events ceremony would be glamorous.

Leslie Kasumba, Channel O Africa manager, said: “The African music industry has had a great run this year. This is evident in the quality of music videos and will again be seen when all these amazing stars share the stage as performers at the Channel O Awards.

“I am very excited and as a fan of African music, it’s going to be a night to remember!”

Adding fire to the live performances will be Angola’s Cabo Snoop (Most Gifted Male Video), L-Tido (Most Gifted African Southern Video), and Professor, who is in the running for Most Gifted Kwaito Video.

Cabo Snoop is not a new name to Zimbabweans as he has featured on Buffalo Souljah’s music video for the track Staera Inonyengesa.

One of the highlights of the awards is likely to be a rap showdown featuring Ugandan hip-hop queen Keko alongside fellow rapper Navio up against the multi-nominated South African stars AKA and Kuli Chana. Zambia’s C.R.I.$.I.$ will battle it out with Nigeria’s finest, Ice Prince.

Established Mozambican artist, Lizha James, Uganda’s hip-hop star Navio, Nigeria’s Flavour whose hit Nwa Baby (Remix) has been nominated for Most Gifted Afro-Pop Video will also perform at the event.

The Channel O Music Video Awards which will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa, will be aired live on Channel O.
