Unbeaten Dzivaresekwa Raiders will be out to maintain their unbeaten record this season when they play Assassins in a Harare Basketball Association (HBA) encounter at Richwood courts today.

After today’s match, Raiders will regroup before taking on Mabvuku-based Faith Wear Jammer at Dzivaresekwa courts tomorrow.

Raiders go into both matches brimming with confidence after last week’s 72-55 victory over Hawks which was their fifth successive win this season. Their opponents, Jammers, and Assassins will be hoping for better fortunes as they have both endured an indifferent start to the season.

Last weekend Jammers lost 55-33 to Cameo Sigauke while Assassins were outplayed 24-82 to Cheaters. Jammers are currently sitting on number six on the 17-team log after losing two of their first five matches while Assassins are further down on number 11 after posting just one win in five matches.

Raiderz will welcome Norest Shenje from a thumb injury and the veteran player will look forward to support from the long-serving Costa Mashati, Menard Masawi and Tatenda Maturure.

Ngoni Mukukula, the Raiderz coach, told NewsDay Sport that his team was prepared for both encounters. “We are looking forward to doing well in both matches.

We have enjoyed a good start to the season so far and we just have to continue on the same path. Assassins and Jammers have not started well but they have good players so we will be taking both matches very seriously,” said Mukukula.

Jammers’, who play a running game, will rely on the experience of Michael Koffie while point guard Lloyd Munyanduri and his brother Lawrence are also expected to play a key role in this match.
