Chicken Inn will be hoping to return to winning ways when they meet relegation-threatened Black Mambas “Warumwa Warumwa” in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Luveve Stadium tomorrow.
In their last match, they held Shooting Stars to a goalless draw in Harare before they lost 2-1 to Caps United at home.
Evans Gwekwerere scored a brace while former Footballer of the Year Evans Chikwaikwai got the face-saver for the Premiership newcomers.
The Philani “Beefy” Ncube-coached Chicken Inn will not be taking Warumwa Warumwa for granted.
“Mambas are powered by their brilliant goalkeeper, Learnmore Jere, who most of the times earns the man-of-the-match award in their matches.
“If Jere does not make it into the team, then it is Didymus Chakabva who may find himself between the sticks.
“Their attack is usually centred on Peter Kachirika and Benjamin Chirumhanzu as well as utility players Isaac Madziva and Brian Abbas Amidu who have also been national team trialists,” reads Chicken Inn website.
Mambas gaffer John “Toto” Ncube yesterday said they were geared for the match although he said they will be without two key players due to injury.
“Our position on the log is not good. We are therefore prepared to fight for the three points. Chicken Inn is a good side and they have been playing well in their first year in the league.
“We will, however, be without Peter Kachirika and Shingi Masasa through injury,” he said.
“We want to carry on from where we left off against Caps United.
“We wasted a lot of chances there as we failed to convert. But we will soldier on and hope for a favourable result,” he said.
Chikwaikwai is likely to lead the Chicken Inn strike force together with Thomas Chimenya, Daniel Zokoto and Tendai Ndoro.
