Impressive fast bowler Glenn Querl put up yet another five-star performance to help Matabeleland Tuskers complete a crushing innings and 228-run victory over Mashonaland Eagles on the penultimate day of their Logan Cup match at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

It was a third consecutive victory for the reigning Logan Cup champions, who moved to the top of the points table while Eagles were handed their first defeat of the season.

However, the star in the Logan Cup so far has been 23-year-old Querl, who was the main catalyst behind Eagles losing 12 wickets in a day on Tuesday.

The former Zimbabwe Under-19 international rattled through the Eagles line-up, claiming six wickets as the hosts were bundled out for 52 runs in their first innings in response to Tuskers’ 418. Only two Eagles batsman managed to reach double figures, with the other three managing to get off the mark while the rest were dismissed without scoring.

With a deficit of 366 runs, the follow-on was enforced and this left Eagles with a mountain to climb to save the match and inevitably Tuskers completed the comprehensive win. Eagles were bowled out for 138 just before lunch on the penultimate day.
