Eastern Region Division One outfit Buffaloes celebrated their entry into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer after they secured the sole ticket into the top-flight by beating Renco Mine 2-0 at Sakubva Stadium on Saturday.

Their closest chasers Hippo were held to a 2-2 draw by Triangle in Chiredzi the following day.

With four matches before the curtain comes down, the soldiers have 68 points from 24 matches, a tally which second-placed Hippo will never reach even if they win their remaining games, since they have 54 points from the same number of games. Buffaloes assistant coach Sicho Masachi said he was very happy they have managed to achieve their main objective, but still insisted they need to finish the remaining games on a good note.

“We have achieved our main goal by being promoted into the Premier Soccer League, but we need to finish strongly. Remember we are still to be defeated in the league, so we have to continue to work hard.

“The morale is high in the camp, especially the young guys who have not played in the Premiership before, they are happy because this is the chance for them to be recognised,” he said

Buffaloes started the match very strongly and they were rewarded with two first-half goals by Fibeon Munjoma and Prince Mudhawu and had the luxury of missing a penalty, after Renco Mine goalkeeper Costa Kapangura saved a Dananai Chinowawa spot-kick after the breather.
