The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Zimbabwe (ICSA) on Friday said chartered secretaries will take a leading role in building the economy through active participation in corporate governance issues and risk management.

The ICSAZ chairperson (Harare branch) Lovemore Gomera was speaking at a luncheon where associates and fellows of the institute were receiving their CIS qualification certificates.

“The Zimbabwean economy is certainly on the mend hence the need for chartered secretaries to take a leading role in advising business on proper ways of embracing the anticipated economic boom,” said Gomera.

Gomera challenged recipients to actively participate in policy formulation, both in commerce and industrial business frameworks as their vast knowledge is invaluable.

He said the CIS qualification equipped the students with knowledge in all facets of business.

Gomera urged members to be champions of corporate governance and advise on risk management and business ethics wherever they interface with business as is the case worldwide.
