Zimbabwe women cricket team all-rounder Sharne Mayers was named as the new national team captain ahead of the upcoming ICC Women World Cup Qualifier 2011 (WWCQ) in Bangladesh from November 14-25.

The national women’s team coach Caroline Nyamande said: “The preparations have gone on very well and the team is supposed to go into camp on the first of November until departure for Bangladesh.

“We recently played some matches in Botswana and won all the matches and the ladies are looking in great shape. The players have been together for some time now and are very eager to improve all the time and they have been working very hard,’ said Nyamande.
