MDC-T councillor for Ward 19, Mabvuku, Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, walked out of the Harare Magistrates’ Court a free man last week after magistrate Gamuchirai Siwardi refused to further remand him.

Kufahakutizwi made an application for refusal of remand in a case where he was being charged with disorderly conduct in a public place, following an altercation with a Zanu PF activist, Juliana Mavindidze, in February this year.

Kufahakutizwi was supposed to be tried on Wednesday, but the main witness failed to attend court prompting the magistrate to refuse to further remand him.

According to the State case, Kufahakutizwi allegedly met Mavindidze at Horita Sports Bar in Mabvuku. He was in the company of Josphat Manyame and Cosmas Njerere.

It is alleged Kufahakutizwi accused Mavindidze of causing the arrest of four MDC-T activists and asked her why she had done so.

He allegedly further demanded to know the whereabouts of one MDC-T activist who had gone missing.

The State alleges Kufahakutizwi allegedly threatened to deal with Mavindidze in the event the reportedly missing MDC-T activist was not found.

Mavindidze reported the matter to the police, leading to Kufahakutizwi’s arrest.

Meanwhile, four MDC-T youths from Glen Norah, last Tuesday appeared before Mbare magistrate Brighton Pabwe facing charges of assaulting a suspected Zanu PF supporter.

Darlington Munatsi (37), Walter Munatsi (24), Peace Makumbe (32) and Blessing Mzii (29) were not asked to plead and were remanded out of custody to November 4.

According to the State, the four were part of a group that had gathered for an MDC-T youth meeting which was being held at Chembira Hall in Glen Norah A on October 11.

It is alleged when Tichaona Gomba, who is the complainant in the matter, walked into the hall, one of the MDC-T youths allegedly shouted alerting others that a Zanu PF supporter had intruded.

The four men, together with the others who are still at large, allegedly stood up from their seats and mobbed Gomba.

They allegedly assaulted him and stole his mobile phone and $500.
